Social Media Marketing Intern

Help grow Kitabu Yetu's presence on social media — planning content, engaging our community and turning real chama stories into posts people share. Remote, weekly stipend of KES 1,500.

All open positions

About the role

As our Social Media Marketing Intern, you'll help chamas, welfare groups and SACCOs across Kenya discover Kitabu Yetu through the channels they actually use — Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and X. This is a remote, part-time internship, and a real chance to build a portfolio of work for a product used by real community groups.

What you'll do

  • Plan and create posts across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and X
  • Design simple graphics and short videos using tools like Canva
  • Reply to comments and messages, and help grow an engaged community
  • Write short, clear captions and copy that speak to chama treasurers and members
  • Use a content calendar and scheduling tools to keep posting consistent
  • Track basic performance (reach, engagement, follower growth) and report on what's working

What you'll need

  • Comfort creating content for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and X
  • Basic graphic design skills (Canva or similar)
  • Clear, friendly writing — basic copywriting for captions and short posts
  • Comfort replying to comments and messages as the brand's voice
  • Familiarity with a scheduling tool (Meta Business Suite, Buffer or similar) is a plus
  • Basic comfort reading platform analytics/insights to see what's performing
  • Reliable internet access and your own device — this is a fully remote role

Compensation

This internship pays a weekly stipend of KES 1,500, paid by M-Pesa.
